The end-of-the-year Optimisession “Mysteries of Laboratory Diagnostics” was held on December 10, 2015

Aston Group’s last of this year’s Optimisession was dedicated to lab diagnostics technologies.

Among the speakers of the event were Inna Pugach, Head of Laboratory Diagnostics, Aston Group and Julia Pavlova, Head of Medical Law Department, Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University; Director, National Institute of Medical Law.

Inna Pugach presented a report outlining solutions for improving diagnostic capabilities of the Russian labs. Among them:

1. Standardization of procedures across lab networks
2. Raising awareness about novel diagnostic technologies
3. Centralized processing and storage of lab test data
4. Introduction of personalized care

Yulia Pavlova focused on the legal aspects of interaction between healthcare organizations, pharmaceutical sector and diagnostic labs.

The following issues were addressed in her presentation:

1. Communication issues between care providers, payers and pharmaceutical industry
2. Legal liability of care providers for breach of medical malpractice laws
3. Measures to safeguard the protection of patients' privacy and personal data (including lab test results) and global data transfer
4. Restrictions for pharmaceutical manufacturers
