On September 26-28, 2018, Moscow will host the IV Eurasian Rheumatology Congress dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Institute of Rheumatology and 95th anniversary of Valentina Nasonova, who pioneered rheumatology in Russia.
The Congress is organized by the Association of Rheumatologists of Russia and supported by Research Institute of Rheumatology n.a. Nasonova as part of the CME scientific program for rheumatology specialists.
Over 1200 clinicians from across Russia and CIS (Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan and) and non-CIS countries are expected to attend the event.
The opening meeting will be hosted by Evgeniy Nasonov, President of the Association of Rheumatologists of Russia, Academician of RAS. It will feature the Awards Ceremony for outstanding contribution to rheumatology research and including the research focused on spondylarthritis.
The event’s program will include scientific panels, workshops and sessions and live online polling.
There are over 100 rheumatic diseases and conditions with the third highest disability rates after CVDs and cancer. Rheumatoid arthritis alone is the cause of disability for over 80 thous. patients each year, half of which are within the productive age group (men under 49 years, and women under 44 years). The number of children disabled due to rheumatic conditions has grown by 24% since 2000.
The attendants will discuss the latest trends and developments in rheumatology, including the innovative research in the field. The special focus will be given to functional diagnosis techniques and problems related to overdiagnosing. Also, the meeting will address the urgent issues of drug regulation, uptake of novel health technologies and the legal aspects of rheumatology patients.
This year the Congress will be attended by the delegates from South Korea to sign a number of collaboration agreements in CME, joint clinical trials, experience sharing and other fields.
Another important event is an International Symposium to be attended by representatives from the League of Euro-Asian Rheumatologists (LEAR), Korean College of Rheumatology (KCR), Kazakh College of Rheumatology and Association of Rheumatologists of Russia. The special guest of this meeting is Daesoo Kang, the Minister of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea on Economic Affairs.
