EPIDEMIOLOGY OF CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE IN RUSSIA BASED ON THE DATA FROM NATIONAL REGISTRY OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES

Publication date: 26 april 2018

Aston Health in conjunction with Endocrinology Research Center conducted an epidemiological study of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Russia. The research was ordered by the Ministry of Health.

The database of the National Registry of Diabetes, which covers 81 regions of the country, was used to explore the epidemiological characteristics of CKD in adult patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes over the period 2013-2016. The research was based on the sample of 10 000 adult patients with diabetes aged above 18 years. Among the evaluated parameters were the level of albuminuria and GFR, which, according to clinical guidelines are commonly used to establish the diagnosis of CKD.

The obtained clinical data showed that there are still considerable challenges with respect to screening of patients with type 2 diabetes for CKD at the regional level.

The research was conducted by: M. Shamkhalova, O.Vikulova, A. Zheleznyakova, M.Isakov, A. Serkov, O. Sukhareva, N.Trubitsyna, M.Shestakova, I. Dedov
