ASTON HEALTH AT THE VII (XXVI) NATIONAL ENDOCRINOLOGY CONGRESS

Moscow hosted the VIII (XXVI) National Endocrinology Congress "Personalized Medicine and Practical Aspects of Care Delivery". The event was organized by MoH, the Russian Association of Endocrinologists and the National Endocrinology Research Center (NERC).

A separate meeting focusing on the National Registry of Patients with Diabetes was held during the Congress. Olga Vikulova, Assistant Professor, Ph.D., MD, Head of Epidemiology Department at NERC, made a presentation titled "Diabetes Registry and Dia-Module (mobile health offices) as the Key Tools for Measuring the Quality of Diabetes Care". Another speaker, Marina Shestakova, Professor, Ph.D., MD, Academician of RAMS, Director of the Diabetes Institute at NERC, commended Aston’s team for hard work in implementing this project and thanked the company for the long-term, productive collaboration. She noted that in the future the Registry should, also, be brought to the global scene and deliver evidence for the international scientific publications.

During the meeting a special awards ceremony was held to mark those regions that performed best with respect to Registry project in 2018. Also, the plans for Diabetes Registry Map (a summary of the aggregated regional statistics on diabetes) were introduced and the key accomplishments related to the project ‘Mobile Diagnostic and Treatment Module "Diabetes Center" (Диабет-Центр)’ were outlined. Mikhail Isakov, Head of Endocrinology Division at Aston Health, extended his thanks to colleagues from the medical community who had been actively engaged in assisting with the Registry study.

Overall, the Congress had a busy agenda. The renowned experts in the field presented their reports, hosted live discussions and workshops, which included review of clinical cases and showcasing of the cutting-edge digital technologies. The topics discussed by Congress participants included specifics of diabetes care, personnel training, amending Clinical Guidelines and improving early diagnosis of diabetes and its complications, as well as increasing availability of specialized care to patients with endocrine system diseases across the country.
