Aston Health joined XXIII International Ophthalmology Congress

XXIII International Ophthalmology Congress was held in St. Petersburg to give visibility to the challenges and latest developments in vision science.

Aston Health joined the Congress, sharing knowledge and expertise, in an attempt to tackle the problems at hand.

On the 28th of May during the Panel of Retinal Specialists, the Head of Aston Health Therapeutics Department Evgeny Koltsov presented a report highlighting challenges associated with maintenance of patient registries and opportunities related to development of a registry of patients with diabetic retinopathy. Following his speech, the Panel members issued a resolution on the development of the registry of patients with diabetic retinopathy. All the panel members unanimously voted in favour of adopting the resolution: Chief Ophthalmologist of Russia, MD-PhD, Professor Vladimir Neroev; Chief Offstaff Ophthalmologist in the Healthcare Directorate of St. Petersburg, MD-PhD, Professor Yuri Astakhov; Olga Zaitseva MD; Alla Lisochkina MD; F. Shadrichev, S. Simonova, A. Fursova, etc.

On the 1st of June, a meeting of the Glaucoma Expert Panel took place, where Evgeny Koltsov again presented the report about clinical patient registries. The experts expressed a genuine interest in the solution that allows consolidating electronic health records of patients with glaucoma.

Currently, a great amount of effort has been put into development of the registry of patients with diabetic retinopathy and the registry of patients with glaucoma.

Each year, the International Ophthalmology Congress brings together a significant number of vision science specialists from various regions of Russia, CIS and the globe.
